Your First Step Starts Here
Starting therapy can feel like a big decision, especially when you are not sure what to expect. At Oakline Counseling, we want the process to feel clear, comfortable, and manageable from the beginning.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. You simply need a place to start.
Whether you are navigating anxiety or stress, relationship concerns, grief, anger, trauma, a major life transition, or simply feel that something needs to change, we will begin by understanding what brings you to counseling and what you hope to gain from the experience.
What to Expect
1. Start with a Consultation
Contact Oakline Counseling to request a complimentary consultation. This brief conversation gives you an opportunity to share what you are looking for, ask questions, and determine whether Oakline may be a good fit for your counseling needs.
2. Schedule Your First Appointment
If you decide to move forward, your initial appointment will be scheduled and you will receive the necessary intake forms and practice information to complete before your session.
3. Your First Session
Your first session is an opportunity for your therapist to learn more about you, what you have been experiencing, and what you would like to work toward. There is no expectation that you share everything at once. Counseling moves at a pace that respects your needs and comfort level.
Together, you and your therapist can begin identifying concerns, patterns, strengths, and goals that can help guide the counseling process.
A Counseling Approach Centered on You
At Oakline Counseling, therapy is compassionate, clinically grounded, practical, and collaborative. The goal is not simply to talk about what is happening, but to help you develop greater insight and practical strategies that can support meaningful change in your life.
You can expect a space where you are treated with dignity and respect while also being encouraged to explore the thoughts, patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward.
Faith Integration Is Your Choice
For clients who wish to incorporate their Christian faith into counseling, faith and spiritual values can be thoughtfully integrated in a way that supports their therapeutic goals.
For clients who prefer a non-faith-based approach, counseling remains clinically grounded, respectful, and centered on their individual needs and goals.
You are welcome at Oakline either way.
