Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brings you to counseling, your personal history, your current concerns, and the goals you'd like to achieve through therapy.
This session is also your chance to ask questions and determine whether Oakline Counseling is the right fit for you. There is no pressure to have all the answers—we'll begin where you are.
Do you accept insurance?
Oakline Counseling is currently an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments for clients located anywhere in the state of Georgia, in addition to in-person counseling in the Marietta area.
How long are therapy sessions?
Most individual and couples counseling sessions are 55 minutes. Extended 90-minute sessions are available when clinically appropriate or upon request.
What ages do you work with?
Oakline Counseling primarily serves adults (18+) and couples. Our services are designed to support individuals navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, trauma, grief, stress, and personal growth.
How often should I attend therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your unique needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and gradually transition to biweekly or monthly appointments as progress is made. Together, we'll develop a schedule that best supports your growth and well-being.
Is Christian counseling required?
No. Faith integration is always optional and is guided by your preferences and personal beliefs. We provide evidence-based counseling for all clients. For those who desire it, Christian principles can be thoughtfully incorporated into the therapeutic process in a respectful and clinically appropriate manner.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Scheduling is easy. Start by completing the inquiry form on our website. We’ll follow up to discuss availability, answer any questions you may have, and determine the next appropriate step.

How confidential is therapy?
Your privacy is a top priority. Everything discussed in therapy is kept confidential in accordance with state and federal laws, as well as professional ethical standards.
There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as situations involving immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, or when disclosure is required by law.
These exceptions will be reviewed with you during your first appointment.
How do I know if counseling is right for me?
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from counseling. Therapy can help if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, navigating a major life change, struggling in your relationships, or simply seeking personal growth.
If you're wondering whether counseling could help, that's often a good indication that it's worth having a conversation. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns and help you determine whether our services are the right fit for your needs.
